Star Clippings: For these pieces, I mixed photography and graphic design to create something entirely new. When approaching these pieces, I think first about how the subject is making me feel as a viewer. Then I select the subject and create a background that portrays those emotions. Whether it be solitude, bliss, wonder, or nostalgia, I aim to visually communicate these emotions through my graphics.

The Past Present: For this concentration, I searched through old family photographs and letters. While I never met most of the relatives in these photographs, seeing them frozen in time allows me to imagine what they were like. I decided to portray the feeling of closeness I felt to my relatives when viewing their pictures, reading their letters, and visiting their old homes. By placing myself in their photographs, placing them in my photographs, and placing a whole crowd of my relatives in the pews of my childhood church, I blurred the lines between past and present and intertwined the two together.
